As you enter this gallery of works by Jason K. Milburn you are entering into a quirky universe, with characters strange and familiar. Some are embedded in the mythic structure of ancient western culture and some are the minor characters of everyday life – people whom you may know or think you know from chance encounters and bit parts in television shows. Many of them resemble the artist in one way or another.
There are bits of the artist’s life in the work, of things touched and collected, then added to drawing as if an anchor between the fantastic and the mundane. It is impossible to escape that art is present in all moments, that the drama of each life matters.
I’m impressed by the heart and the intelligence of this work.
